In the meantime, I'm super-excited to see Mike Doughty at 930 on Friday and even MORE excited to see Diplo at Black Cat in July. I've been kept away from this blog by two factors: work, which culiminated today in a fan-goddamn-tastic strategy session with Michael and Tom (and of course Harish, whose lack of blog renders him immaterial) and rereading The Far Pavilions, which is Really Long. And about the British in India, a subject I just can't read enough about...I obviously have secret longings for either colonization or rebellion. Amazon.com quotes the Publisher's Weekly review as calling it "Rich in adventure, heroism, cruetly and love," which, um, what?
Upcoming on Movering.com: reviews of my Penguin books! I'm eight books into the series, and the biggest revelation is that I don't actually hate Nick Hornby, an author who I had previously placed in the category of Authors I Dislike On Principle Because People Who Enjoy Them Are Usually Pretentious Assholes. Kurt Vonnegut and JD Salinger remain thus categorized. Tommy Pynchon, you're still on probation.
